“ I love these dogs… It’s like losing one of my own.”
MVK has had another great year in business, but there have been some not-so-bright spots, too. From the Owner, Katherine:
It has really hit me this year just how much my clients value having a place to leave their dogs—a place where their dogs are safe and thoroughly enjoy time. My client’s gratitude is deeply felt and encouraging. With so many repeating clients, I become a home away from home for so many pups, and I form a connection and relationship with them all. It’s one of the best parts of having a small kennel, but it means that my heart breaks a little when a dog I cared for so many times passes. Several families lost beloved furry family members this year, five dogs in total.
I am grateful to have met so many awesome dogs, and when one of my clients loses one, it’s like losing one of my own. Give your dog a hug and pat from me.

Where Has The Year Gone?
Wow! September is almost over. MVK has had an amazing year so far. We saw many old friends and added some new faces. As we head into the busy holiday season, we at MVK want to wish you the best and hope your year has been as fulfilling as ours.

Another fantastic year for MVK
WOW, 2024 already! Thanks once again; MVK had an amazing year thanks to wonderful clients and their lovely pups.
MVK also fostered 14 puppies from Middleburg Humane last year. If you are looking to add a furry friend to your family this year, check out Middleburg Humane Foundation located in Marshall.

MVK Now Has a Lure Coursing Machine!
We are so excited to add a lure-coursing machine by Swift Paws, as an enrichment option. For dogs drawn to chasing a moving object, lure coursing provides countless physical and mental benefits. Physically, chasing items across a field will tire almost any dog but, lure coursing is also mentally stimulating for dogs as it encourages focus. It leaves them feeling more content and satisfied than simply chasing a ball because lure coursing indulges their hard-wired instincts.

Updated Pricing
After some thought, MVK has decided to lower the price for additional dogs. Originally our prices were per-dog. However, we feel it is fairer to our clients to offer a discounted rate for additional dogs that can be housed/let out together. Please see our Prices page for the new pricing.

We Have Puppies!
Meet Alice and Jasper, a brother and sister pair we are fostering from the Middleburg Humane Foundation in Marshall, VA. They will be available for adoption through the Middleburg Humane Foundation in about two weeks. They could go together or separately.
Alice is very playful, outgoing, and adventurous, while Jasper is a little more reserved and snuggly. They will likely grow to be between 45lb-50lb—a perfect all-around type of dog.

Additional Space Now Available For Pairs
Through some minor renovations, MVK is now better able to serve families with a pair of dogs that need to be kept together. While previously MVK only offered one “Big Room,” we can now remove a portion of the wall creating a second larger living area for two.

Hey there, thanks for checking in again. After a trial week with a few dogs, I found a few areas that could be improved. Originally, our floors were covered in a one-part epoxy. But, after one of the dogs (who has separation anxiety) chipped up the flooring, we had to find a better solution. After some research and testing, we decided on a lovely faux wood vinyl flooring. Fingers crossed, it should be installed in the next three weeks.
Starting a new business is all about working out the kinks. This has been a long journey, but I think the light is finally at the end of the tunnel.

Hello again! We are so close to our official opening. In the mean time we can take on both boarding and day care clients. Please feel free to contact us, to ask questions or set up a visit. We do still have some home construction happening and will be refreshing our landscaping in the spring. But our main facility is complete and ready to accommodate your furry family member.

Hope you had a great Christmas! We are working hard to get everything finished so we can welcome our first guests. We are slightly behind on our renovations as our workers took time for the holidays. Our opening date now will be March 1st
In the mean time, we all would like to wish you a Happy New Year!

A quick sneak peak! Everything is coming along nicely. Just some more painting and a few touch ups. Then I can get into decorating and adding some dog friendly accoutrement. There will also be an area with a couch and TV for some cozy snuggle time. And an indoor area for playing on rainy days
Additionally, we`ll work on getting some out door pictures posted soon.
